"It saved my life"

First Sergeant US Army Colin Rich travelled nearly16 000kms to MSA’s factory in Newport, Vermont to thank the MSA associates who had made the helmet that allowed him to live and tell his tale.

Whilst on duty in Afghanistan he was waiting for an explosives team to arrive to diffuse two Taliban rockets near the Pakistan border.

He was shot by a ‘Waziri’ mercenary with a G-3 rifle. He never heard the shot but the impact knocked him face down onto the ground and he was instantly blinded. 18 hours later, a CT scan showed five skull fragments embedded in his brain but no bullet. While it had punctured the helmet the bullet had been deflected away from Sgt. Rich’s head through the Advanced Combat Helmet’s unique design that dissipates energy to better protect the wearer.
